Tom Van Oss has been a part of the building trades industry for decades. He began as a Steamfitter Apprentice becoming a Journeyman for UA Local 298 in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1974. Tom worked for Cherne Contracting Corporation for over 35 years holding positions from Field Engineer to Project Manager and all the way up to Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. In 2012, Tom started TVO Consultants where he currently remains the President and CEO. As someone who believes in the spirit of union construction, Tom holds and has held important seats on many different boards and committees for organizations like the North American Contractors Association (NACA), Associated Maintenance Contractors (AMC), the National Maintenance Agreement Policy Committee (NMAPC), The Association of Union Contractors (TAUC), and Helmets to Hardhats.
People trust Tom and know him as a man of his word. With a passion for union construction, Tom has served as a mentor and role model for many in our industry. In 2016, Tom was awarded The Association of Union Contractors’ Spirit of Union Construction Award for his ability to inspire others and help his fellow tradesmen. The legacy he is creating is not only for himself, but for all who have learned the tricks of the trade from watching his journey to success.
Tom is a pro at taking a tough situation and simplifying it into an achievable task. In his free time, he uses this quality on the golf course with his buddies who say he is super competitive but fair.
